Drawings for Nikola Tesla Museum and Memorial
These conceptual studies of form and surface explore the idea of architecture as a visual language for conveying information specific to the purpose of the space it contains. Electrostatic potential, current oscillations, and the propagation of waves through wires and space are some of Tesla’s milestone achievements to be celebrated by the museum. The form and monumental massing express the universal aspect of science, while the surface treatments and patterns convey more specific yet abstract information about the subject. Reference is also made to the visionary work of Boullée, Cénotaphe à Newton, published in 1784.
